Clearwater Beach

Adam, Addison and I took a family vacation to Florida the end of May to celebrate lots of things this year.  Adam and I turn the big 3-0, Addison's 2nd birthday, our 5 year wedding anniversary in September and the upcoming arrival of baby #2.
We wanted to travel in May before Addy turned 2- so that she could still be a lap child on the plane and so that I was still able to enjoy the trip before getting too pregnant.
I would say we had an amazing time together, and I can't wait for more family vacations together.
We stayed at a really nice condo that we were able to each have our own bedroom, a kitchen to cook in, and plenty of room for a toddler to run around in.
The beach was right across the street, and the board walk was full of great family friendly restaurants, and even a park. The water was so warm at the beach- about 85 degrees, we really enjoyed ourselves. The beach is a perfect family vacation- the kids get to play and the adults get to sit and relax. Win Win.

We also went to Busch Gardens in Tampa for the day - spent 9hrs there enjoying all the fun activities: Sesame Street of Fun, the animals, the kid rides, and the food. We got the all day dining package- and it was totally worth it. I think we would have spent $50 in water that day because it was so hot- and $20 for each Adam and I wasn't bad.

We also spent some time in the pool...and I love these "puddle jumpers"  - it's like the arm "floaties" we used to have, but better. Addison loved practicing her swimming skills in the water, and jumping in.
We also saw dolphins swimming right up next to the pool in the bay next to our condo. Very Cool. Addy was very excited, as you can imagine.

Hard to believe our next big family vacation will be as a family of 4!!

Addison's going to be a BIG SISTER!

Face and body

Spine

Well...I guess we've waited long enough to make an official announcement...

Addison is going to be a BIG SISTER in October!!

We couldn't be more excited, and blessed to soon be a family of 4.

How far along are you? 20 weeks according to the ultrasound..21 weeks LNMP. Like Addison's pregnancy, things were a little "off" with timing.

When did you find out? Valentines Day, Feb. 14th

How did you tell Adam? Addison gave him a valentine that said, "I'm going to be a BIG Sister"

Does Addison know? She knows there's a baby in Mommy's belly...but who knows how she will react when this baby comes to live at her house. :)

How have you been feeling? The first trimester was rough. A little nausea, and of course fatigue. But, had several scares requiring 5 ultrasounds - biweekly for the first 11 weeks. Basically, had small holes in the placenta causing bleeding...that healed with the assist of progesterone and little activity. (ha...with an almost 2year old and being a PT...how are you supposed to "be 50% of your activity level) Glad that I got the clearance at 12 weeks to resume normal activity and exercise...and as of 14 weeks really started to feel so much better.

Have you felt the baby move yet? Yes...early actually. 13.5 weeks I felt the first flutters which is REALLY early...I know. But, as my doctor said...you know what they feel like already, so you're more aware. Now, the baby is moving more and more...with little punches, kicks and rolls. How sweet that feeling is...and so reassuring.

Are you going to find out the sex? No. We didn't with Addison either...and I must say that was the most exciting moment of my life. As we say, why find out what a gift is before you open it!? We had our big ultrasound on June 13th....and everything is "just perfect".

What is your official due date? Oct. 29th...but I figure anytime after the 20th since the dates are "off" again.

Our Family reveal 3/4/12: 6 weeks

3/18/12- 8 weeks

4/15/12: 12 weeks

4/29/12: 14 weeks

Mothers Day: 5/13/12 - 16 weeks

5/28/12 - 18 weeks in Clearwater Beach

Easter

Easter was filled with many blessings this year.
My best friend, Laura, was able to come home and make a surprise visit to her family for the weekend - and stay with us. It was wonderful to see them all for this short, but sweet visit. Check out her blog for the details of their visit: http://thehillzarealiveat.blogspot.com/2012/04/priceless-easter-surprise.html

She enjoyed our Easter egg hunt at home, and was really quite fast at it. The Easter bunny will have to do a better job next year.

We then celebrated the day with the Peszek cousins - Addison really enjoyed playing with all of her cousins - especially in the sandbox. She literally stood there for 2hrs straight - and didn't even want to come in for dinner. Shocking. I know.

They had a great time with the Easter egg hunt, and the little ones got more of a head start...all Miss Addison could care about was the candy in the eggs...didn't care for the $$...she'll learn.

Addison 23 months

Well, I haven't been very good at these "monthly" posts the past few months...but, let's just say I tried.
Miss Addi:son Rose is becoming a little girl before our very eyes, with new vocabulary, expressions and actions every day. It amazes me that she is not even 2 yet, but can hold little "conversations".
Here are a few things she's said lately:

"It looks like a fish, but it's a whale" (When I asked her what the picture was of a whale)
"It's not hot, it's just warm" (Talking about her food)
"It's not bad, not bad at all" (Says this multiple occasions)
"Lay down, close your eyes, go to sleep, (no talking)" (Talking to her dolls)
"Tuck me in, and rub my back"  (When she goes to bed/nap)
"It's ok baby, don't cry, I got you" (Talking to her baby doll)
"What's the matter? Don't cry." (Talking to her dolls)
"Did you hurt yourself?"
"Mommy coming too? Let's take a walk."
"Put down your purse, take your coat off" (When I walked in the door from work)
"Baby's crying, change her diaper"
"Addy do....." she loves to talk in the 3rd person.
"Go to the beach, play in the sand, go swimming, watch the whales" - we've obviously been talking a lot about our upcoming vacation! :)

Counting: 1-15 ; can identify when we hold up our hand how many fingers we're holding up.
Constantly says if she has 1, 2 or 3 of "something" - for example if she's holding 2 flowers going to the park in her stroller, getting 3 books to read before bedtime. She prefers to have 2 of things, so she can hold one in each hand.

Letters: She loves her letter puzzle from Uncle B...and can accurately and consistently identify the letters: A, B, C, F, H, K, M,N, O, Q, R, S, T, W, X, Y, Z.

Responds to:
"what's your name?" - "Addison" or "Addy"
"what's your middle name? "Rose"
"what's your last name? "Seghi"

Playtime:
She really enjoys playing with her dolls, baby doll (feeding, diaper changes, tea parties, putting them to sleep, un-dressing them), building blocks, doing puzzles, coloring with crayons and markers, playing with her little people, reading books, playing with chalk outside, and going to the park.

Bird watching early in the morning after breakfast....

Loves playing with chalk outside and blowing bubbles

Addison's first stitches

Addison's first stitches: March 15, 2012.

She cut the tip of her right middle finger, while trying to "help" mommy cook dinner (while daddy went for a run).  She was sitting on the counter with me as I opened up the can of green beans to put in a dish....she LOVES green beans....and said, "Mommy, green beans!!"...as she reached for the can...she pushed in the lid and got her hand/finger stuck. Obviously did not understand the harder she pulled...the worse it would be...and I was in utter panic. Finally, after what seemed to be an eternity, I released her finger...and blood was gushing everywhere.  Panic continued as I knew that we would have to go to the hospital.... Adam didn't have his phone with him.... so I tried to call my MIL {as I held a screaming, inconsolable child, who was bleeding all over..} who had just left our house...but I instead had to leave a frantic voice mail. I looked out the window, and saw my neighbor was home...so I ran across the street for help. {Mind you, with a half naked baby in a diaper and tshirt - she had insisted not to put her pants back on after we changed her diaper that night} My neighbor, Allen, helped me stop the bleeding and drove us to urgent care. It's amazing how, despite my medical training, my mind completely blanked of rational thought because my daughter was between hysterics and passing out from shock. My MIL called back, and went to meet Adam at our house...and clean up the bloody mess....before he got home from his run....and then they met us at urgent care.
They took us right away, as we walked in the door looking like a bloody mess. Addison really was such a good girl as they cleaned her up.  They first attempted steri-strips, but they didn't hold, so they had to do the stitches.  The worst part was the numbing of her finger...and she was sick of me squeezing her finger so hard....but, she was able to hold still for the 2 stitches in her finger. We kept telling her that when we got home she could have some chocolate ice cream.....
Here she is with her big bowl of ice cream and her bandaged finger watching Mary Poppins to calm down after 2.5 hrs at urgent care....moments later she was fast asleep.

Lessons learned:
1. No more sitting on the counter
2. Things happen faster than you can blink...let alone react
3. My brain turns to mush when my daughter gets hurt
4. Adam and I will always bring our cell phones with us when we go run
5. Our little girl is very brave
6. Good neighbors are truly a blessing

*After a week, it was completely healed.  The hardest part was keeping it covered and dry with a VERY active toddler.

Adams Big 3-0

Happy 30th to my Wonderful Husband on March 1st. ( I know I'm a little late)

We had a 2 week long celebration, including a surprise Blackhawks game on Wed. Feb 29th against the Toronto Maple Leafs. I surprised Adam at work (he almost left to go get a new license...thank goodness I called his co-workers to dome up with a scheme to keep him there as long as possible). It was an exciting game with a 5-3 win by the Hawks.

This was followed by our family party on Sunday with yummy Taco Fresco catered

And then we went back to the United Center for the Bulls vs. Orlando Magic game on Thursday March 8th.

Best Friends, Addy and Kayla

Success!!! Ponytail!!!

First Oreos and Milk....she's lovin' it just a little bit.

Tent and tunnel fun....

Grandpa Jones in town for a short visit.

We took 5 weeks of gymnastics every Wednesday morning in Feb-March, and she was a natural ( like her mommy). Of course she had no fear and was able to climb up and over all the obstacles, the balance beam (with only a little help), and swing around the bar. Daddy came for our last class and joined in on the stretching fun. :) And of course, who doesn't love the parachute?!
