Happy Birthday baby girl!! We can't believe it's been a whole year since you were brought into this world and blessed us with so much love, happiness and memories. It's amazing to have seen you grow and develop and change...you've gained 17lbs and grown 10" in the past year. Wow.
One year stats: weight: 24lbs 1oz, height: 29" long
Eating: We have transitioned to all table food now over the past month as our little girl has grown 2 more teeth and really likes to feed herself. She loves all sorts of fresh cut up fruit: blueberries, bananas, peaches, pears, watermelon, cantelope, melon, strawberries, kiwi, etc. So glad summer is hear and more fresh fruit is available. She's able to eat most of the food we do now, just cut up into small pieces. ie: pieces of chicken, ground beef (had tacos tonight), quesadillas, pasta, lunch meat, ice cream ("mmmmmm"), CAKE, goldfish, cheese and crackers, graham crackers. --all sorts.
Drinking: We made the transition to whole milk about 4 days before her birthday, and had to do half formula half milk initially to get her used to the taste, since she wasn't used to it right away. This is when I fully weaned from nursing, and it's been a good transition for both of us. :) We've been getting Oberweis whole milk- which is the local dairy, and has honestly the best milk ever- she's a spoiled little girl. Thinking of starting home milk delivery as well, since she goes through a gallon herself, and Adam and I go through 1-2gallons per week. It would be nice to have fresh milk arrive at your doorstep, wouldn't it?! She's also still taking water from a sippy cup, but she doesn't seem to like to drink the milk from the sippy cup...I don't get it?! We're going to keep working on this and transition away from the bottle, but don't want to force too many changes at this time.
Sleeping: Over the past month she's been taking 2 naps a day for 1.5-2hrs and sleeping from 730 or 8pm till 6-7am. She's continued to do well putting herself to sleep which has been so much better for us all. (I've learned how important this is, and will do this earlier in the future)
Physically: Addison took her first steps on May 24th, 2010 - it was a very memorable moment when she was standing next to Adam and my brother Brian in the family room on the couch, and she looked up at me in the kitchen, and started saying "Ma-ma, Ma-ma", and put her hands out and started walking towards me, made it 5-6 steps then reached out for the ottoman and Brian. :) It was so cool that we were all there to see this "first" moment with her, and of course got some video. :) She also has pushed herself back up to standing from the floor a couple times and has been working on lots of squats and standing for several minutes at a time. She'll just stand there and clap her hands or play with something without holding on to anything and perfect balance...
Since then she's continued to take the 5-6 steps on her own, but still doesn't have the confidence to go anymore than that...and just wants to reach out for our hands or the furniture. She continues to run around the house with her push toys, steering in every possible direction, turning around, picking them up, pushing them sideways, or even two toys at a time. She will do it on her own time, and then we'll be wishing she was back at this stage. :)
Teeth: More teeth on top adjacent to the front 2- came in 2 days apart on May 28th and 30th.
Addy had a double ear infection for almost the whole month, with 2 rounds of antibiotics and also bronchiolitis that she was taking an inhaler for and pink eye. She wasn't too horribly miserable, as she never really lets us know she's not feeling well. It takes the fever to clue us in to take her to the doctor. Poor baby- glad she's better.
Meanwhile, the past 3 weeks have been a whirlwind with my Mom being in the hospital after sustaining an injury to her head and knee after a fall at home, and her heart going into abnormal rhythm. She was in ICU for a couple days, then transferred to Marianjoy for rehabilitation which helped me keep an eye on her. She finally was able to go home on Sunday, and we are all hoping that she continues to heal and get stronger to return to prior level including golfing this summer. We are so thankful that she is ok, as we know it could have been a lot worse. Thus- this post is coming a little bit late, but I obviously have had my hands full. :)

Our Happy Family |
Actual Birthday: May 31, 2011
Adam and I both took the day off of work to celebrate with our baby girl, and took her to the Cosley Zoo in Wheaton.
www.cosleyzoo.org. It's a perfect little zoo for little ones to go too, and what more fitting for her big day.
She also got Tickle Me Elmo from us for her bday, and is obsessed.

What better way to end the day then Oberweis ice cream with Grandma and Grandpa...yummy! |

*I got a new Canon 60D DSLR camera for graduation, and I'm sure you'll be able to tell the improved picture quality from some of the pictures. It's amazing, and I'm excited to use it more and play around with all of it's capabilities!

Here's the start of trouble...
***Daddy Post*** Hi everyone. Well, it's been quite an amazing year. It's true what they say - you fall in love with your kids more and more each day. Amy and I are very blessed to have a healthy, happy little girl. There are so many people in this world that don't get to experience what we do with Addy and I'm just thankful to have a family that is so close and full of love. Coming home to my beautiful wife and daughter is my favorite part of my day.
Okay, okay, no more mushy stuff.
Here's my take on Addy Rose - she's a daredevil and likes to push the envelope (God only knows where she gets that from). More and more recently, she likes to try to sneak behind the end table and couch, and she knows she shouldn't which is why she peeks around to see if anyone is watching. Did I mention she also like to try to splash in Kali's water bowl? She's starting to be quite the chatterbox and is basically either laughing or saying words for anything and everything.
I'm definitely looking forward to her second year which I know will be more lessons to teach, more messes to clean up, and most importantly, more laughs than the first 12 months. Go Team Seghi. |
