Really, half a year already?! It keeps getting better and better, and my love for my daughter and my family grows every day. I think each stage has been a lot of fun; but I think this age is my favorite. She is so cute, cuddley, smiley and has really started to develop a personality. She's been sitting up by herself for the past 2.5 weeks or so, but has become more and more independent each day. She has been "talking" to us and it really seems as if she's trying to communicate. We're going to try to do a little baby sign language, as they are learning at "school", and see if this will help us. Still rolling constantly over to her belly and pivoting all around...including in her crib. It's a surprise every morning to see what position she's in. One morning she was even asleep on her belly for the first time ever.
Here is her practicing her sitting skills:
First time on 11/10/10 (wednesday when I was home with her):
Then that same weekend:
Now I'm a pro:
"Mom, the phone is for you!"

We had Addison's 6 month doctor visit on Tuesday, and to our suprise it didn't go as well as we would have hoped. The doctor was concerned about two things. One, she felt a "click" when she was testing her hips, possibly indicative of hip dysplasia. However, she had never heard this before now. So, she ordered xrays, and I had to take Addison to the hospital on Wednesday. She was such a good girl, and held as still as she could while I held her down. (I even took a look at the xrays, and didn't really see anything wrong.) So, GOOD NEWS...the doctor called thursday to say they looked normal! :) However, the second thing was that she heard a soft heart murmur, that was also the first time that she'd heard something "wrong" with her heart. So, the doctor recommended seeing a pediatric cardiologist "sometime in the next 2 months". Since pediatric specialists are so hard to get into, our appointment is on Dec. 23rd.
This was a difficult night for Adam and I, to try to digest everything and for the first time felt very helpless and empty. We've been blessed with such a healthy, beautiful baby girl and it was really just a shock to us to hear these things. We're so glad to know that her hips are okay, and we pray that the same result will come back with her heart. We just ask that you keep her and us in your thoughts and prayers in the coming weeks.
